Ravens when they Cry

By Garth Nielsen

This collection of ten short stories is authored by Garth Nielsen, a writer and an artist, who has spent most of his life living in the deserts and the empty places of the southwest - First, a child in New Mexico; Then, as an adult in Nevada, California, in Utah, Colorado and Arizona. He has been blessed to know and listen to the wisdom of many traditional Native American elders. He walks on the hallowed ground of both the Red Road and the Jesus Road, and he has honored and respected both traditions his entire life.

The stories within this book offer glimpses of his life experience, all 86 years of them, as he traveled across the country, meeting many unique people along the way. Some he knew well and some shared but a few hours of time with him. Yet these remembrances have become a part of him, triggering long hours of thought, shaping his mind, directing his life, and coming alive in the pages of this book.

St. Bridget’s Children

By George Warner

St. Bridget's School is the true story of a journey taken by an eleven-year-old Austrian immigrant to the United States and settling into an inner-city neighborhood, in the 1950’s in Rochester, NY. Carrying with him a deep loneliness, in a world turned upside down from all that he had known, he was faced with the overwhelming task of finding his way in a new, very foreign place. Good fortune had placed him in a neighborhood full of diverse people, of different nationalities who were very accepting of him, enabling his rapid assimilation.

Discovering many amazing things about this new world, he became part of the fabric of the neighborhood. As Cold War times dominated the news, his group of friends became a snap-shot of inner-city life at that time. Although deprived of many advantages, they all came of age together, sharing numerous adventures. Fending for themselves and left to their own creativity, the group of friends of St. Bridget's bonded so closely that sixty years later, they still meet for lunches, keeping the memory of the St Bridget neighborhood in their hearts.

The author George Werner was born in Saalfelden, Austria. He has led a diverse life. As a musician he was a member of the nineteen sixties rock band "The Heard". He served three years as a school teacher, before moving to Breckenridge, Colorado to lead a skiing life. Becoming an entrepreneur, he founded several businesses. Turning to youth soccer, he developed a program to teach the sport, coached high school and numerous club teams, founded his own soccer academy, and wrote a book on developing youth soccer teams titled "Less is More".

Karmic Debris presents the writings of two unique American artists who rose out of the 1960's - 70's. Both were part of a migration of poets, writers, musicians, adventurers, spiritual seekers, social radicals who spread across the country and the world, becoming contributors to a pivotal era of change. They were nomads searching for answers, freedom and wisdom, striving for new means of expression. They moved from place to place... not looking for homes, but for inspiration. Piya Italia and Franke Wednesday were Avant performers, musicians, as well as writers, exploring the boundaries as creative revolutionaries. A love story is embedded in their words, about a complex relationship, filled with the passion of two artists in an exceptional era.

Their words represent a unique time, the 1960s- 70s... today, those are days long past... but that period, still holds a powerful influence and sway over many.
